Emma Hamilton Haworth (nee Zerrelly) died peacefully Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born January 28, 1916 to Charles and Grace (Santillo) Zerrelly in Bridgeport, CT. Emma graduated from Harding High School, where she was editor of the school newspaper. She met and married Baird Hamilton in 1941, and raised three children with him, James T. Hamilton , Indianapolis, IN (Dawn), Robert B. Hamilton, Pittsburgh, PA, and Carol G Hamilton, Shelton, CT. While living in Stratford, CT, Emma founded Emma Hamilton Realty and remained a top selling realtor even after moving to Pittsburgh, PA, where she worked for Wm Hall Real Estate .While Emma and Baird raised their children, they enjoyed entertaining family and friends in a home filled with music and laughter. After Baird’s death in 1971, she later married William Haworth and moved to Milford, CT to enjoy Friday night pinochle games with her family, and playing golf. She joined Milford Century 21 Realty after 10 years of retirement at age 72 and continued her success in Real Estate for 12 more years. She joined the Milford Senior Center where she took delight in daily Bingo games. Emma would complete no less than three crossword puzzles a day. In addition to her children she leaves 8 grandchildren, Erica, Liza Bennek, (Paul), Heather Bohin, (Chris), Noel, Baird, Evan, Daniel and Skye Hamilton, and one great granddaughter, Lily Bohin. She also leaves two sisters, Margaret Tassinary, Stratford, CT and Elsie Monaco, New Milford, CT. In addition to her two husbands, she was predeceased by a brother, Peter Zerrelly and two sisters, Mary Tarinelli and Olympia Haray. Emma has many loving nieces and nephews, locally, Joan Wasilewski (Sigmund) of Stratford, CT and Janet Silk (John) of Norwalk, CT and Ricky Schmidt (Linda) of Milford, CT. According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours but a celebration of her life on Sunday, March 14th at St Peter’s Church, 71 River St. Milford, CT at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Relief Services, or a charity of your choice.
