Benjamin A. Neilson, age 65, of Bethany, beloved husband of Dolores R. (Bourgoin) Neilson, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017. He was born on July 3, 1951 in Milford, CT to the late Edward and Ruth Lenore (Edwards) Neilson.

Ben was a production manager in the food service industry for many years. An avid reader and outdoorsman, he loved backpacking, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband and his favorite time was camping with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed funny movies, Scrabble and re-telling the same jokes. 

In addition to his beloved wife of 26 years, Dolores, he also leaves 6 children:  His son, Joshua Neilson and daughter Thera of Milton, Vermont; his daughter, Sonia Hartnett and husband Michael and their 2 children Morgan and Logan of Lebanon, CT; his son Tyler Neilson and wife Marni and their 2 children, Javin and Harley of Brandon, VT; his daughter Carolyn Walsh and husband Dave and their son, Christopher of Middletown, CT; his daughter Alison LeClair and husband Michael and their 2 children, Carter and Caleb of Plantsville, CT, and Lindsey Neilson of Hamden, CT.

Ben is also survived by seven siblings, Timothy Neilson, Theodore Neilson, Ruth Johnsen, Tracy Neilson, Vicky Duncan, Linda Lydiksen and David Neilson, many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friends, Rick and Geri, Jackie and Mike, Phyllis and Leon, Karla and Jim, and Carol and Carl. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter and his sister, Margaret, a mother and father.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm with a Service to be held at 4:30 pm. Interment will be held in private.
