Charles L. Peschel, 92, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Betty Anne (Donarum) Peschel, passed away peacefully under hospice care on February 5, 2018. Born on March 12, 1925 in West Haven, he was the son of the late Albert and Louise (Reinwald) Peschel.

Charlie graduated West Haven High School in 1943. He went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army, as a Gunner in the 802nd Tank Destroyer Battalion in World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart while in action between Dortmund and Dusseldorf, Germany. Charlie was employed as an industrial engineer for both Avco Lycoming and Sikorsky Aircraft. Besides spending time with his family, Charlie enjoyed teaching his children car maintenance, repair, and restoration. While in retirement, he joined his high school friends for their weekly Wednesday morning breakfast club which he enjoyed for over 25 years. Charlie was very active in the Saint Agnes Parish where he was a communicant, organized the lectors, and volunteered at many of the church events. Charlie’s presence will be missed, but never forgotten.

Charlie is survived by his children, Eileen M. (Thomas) Smith of Maryland, Kevin J. (Grace) Peschel of Northford, and Brian (Maryann) Peschel of Watertown; grandchildren, Sean Peschel, Bridget (Scott) Friedman, Brendan (Flor) Smith, Helen (Michael) Alexander, Joseph Peschel, and Allie Peschel; great grandchildren, Sophie, Micah, Nina, and Jacob; sister, Louise Roller of Milford; daughter-in-law, Nan Peschel;  sister-in-law, Helen Donarum; and brother-in-law, Robert (Mary) Donarum. Charlie was predeceased by his son, Charles J. Peschel; and brother, Albert Peschel.

The family would like to thank the hospice nurses and staff at The Harbor at The Village at East Farms for all their care for Charlie during his short time there.
