Cynthia Pearl Gernand, 97, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Colonel Robert H. Gernand, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2017. Born on September 18, 1919 in Manchester, CT, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Chambers.
Cynthia attended Manchester schools and graduated from Manchester High School. During World War II, Cynthia worked in the Pioneer Parachute factory. Cynthia lived in Fairfield, CT, Ascutney, VT, St. Augustine, FL and Milford, CT. She enjoyed many days boating on Long Island Sound, St Augustine, Florida and in the Caribbean. With her husband, she travelled throughout the world.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Donegan (James) of Milford, formerly of Fairfield, Robert Reid of CA and Helen Roth (Mark) of NH. Also her grandchildren, James (Amy) and Jeffrey Donegan, Isaac and Elinor Roth, Benjamin, Jennifer and Jonathan Gernand and great grandchildren, Tucker and Colin Donegan. She was predeceased by her first husband, Marshall J. O'Quinn and her son George Gernand.
A private burial will take place at a later date where Cynthia will be interred next to her husband, at Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
