Denise Carroll

Denise J. Carroll, 57, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Raymond T. Carroll, passed away at her home on April 18, 2024. Born on August 7, 1966 in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of Peter J. Dirga and the late Sharon K. Dirga.

Denise grew up in Milford, CT and after high school was employed for years as a Bookkeeper and General Office Manager for Mercury Communications in Stratford, CT. Upon the birth of her three beloved children, she transitioned to a stay-at-home Mother, creating a warm and loving environment in which they would grow.  Denise was a homebody at heart and loved to entertain family and friends. She and Ray threw many parties and gatherings, and her meals were legendary. There was always way too much food to go around.

Denise was very kind and generous, and that kindness was embraced by the animal kingdom. She had cats and dogs and numerous pets through the years. She fed squirrels and birds off her back deck. Most of her pets would seemingly find her, showing up at her house or the houses of her parents, family or friends and she would always take them in, nurturing them back to health. She once bottle fed a tiny stray kitten that grew healthy and still lives in her home with her 3 boys.

She was a science fiction lover and anyone who knew her, knows of the endless hours she spent watching Ancient Aliens, fascinated by the possibilities of the universe and the mysteries that lay within.

She loved nature and being outdoors and spent much of her time when able in the 2nd home she and Ray shared in Vermont, jokingly referred to by friends as “Carroll Mountain”.  A lovely place where she spent time enjoying nature, the peace and quiet and beautiful scenery it provided. She often got up close views of the wildlife there and couldn’t have been happier for it.

Denise will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her. We will take some measure of comfort knowing that the faith that she relied on throughout her life, both in good times and bad, will bring her everlasting peace.

Along with her father, Denise is survived by her sons, Michael, Jonathan, and Andrew Carroll; sister, Michelle (Richard) Murphy; siblings-in-law, Frank J. Carroll III and Amy (Michael) D’Amico; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Aaron) Berez, Madison and Jake Murphy, Molly, Erin, and Frank J. Carroll IV, and Alexandra and Emma D’Amico; great nephew, Callen; parents-in-law, Patricia and Frank J. Carroll Jr.; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Leigh Dirga.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. that day at Saint Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
