John T. Bernier

John T. Bernier, 86, formerly of Stamford, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2017, in Shelton, CT. Born in Greenwich, CT on June 15, 1931, he was the son of the late John B. and Evelyn Bouvin Bernier.
Mr. Bernier served in the Korean War from 1951 – 1955 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked as a carpenter for Bernier Construction and was a lifelong member of Carpenter’s Local 210. He was extremely active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving as CT State Commander from 2007-2008.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 35 years, Ellen Bernier. In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by his brother, Arthur Bernier. Mr. Bernier is survived by his daughters, Tracy B. Laza of Milford, Kimberly B. Davidson of Shelton, their respective spouses, Wilbert and Henry; his cherished granddaughters, Emily and Samantha; brothers, Gerard Bernier of Jacksonville, FL and George Bernier of Atlanta, GA; sister, Margaret Nedley of AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Ave., Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans and the Wounded Warrior Project.
