Joseph “Joe Joe” Paul Ciancola III, age 20, of Orange and beloved son to Michele Annatone Ciancola and Joseph Paul Ciancola, Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 in Providence, RI.  Born in New Haven on August 13, 1991, he was a graduate of Amity High School Class of 2010.  Joseph was a gifted and accomplished athlete and while attending Amity, was the captain of the hockey team as a defenseman and captain of the baseball team as a talented pitcher for the Spartans. He led the Spartans hockey team to 2 Division II state titles and was chosen All State and All Conference for both sports.  Joseph was named Amity HS 2010 Baseball MVP and 2010 Amity HS Athlete of the Year. He also played with the CT AAU Bombers of Hamden. He attended the University of Rhode Island where he was a proud baseball player for the Rams. Joseph was proud of his “flow”. He enjoyed his “strings” and loved Phish concerts. He was passionate about playing pond hockey with his “boys” and enjoyed fresh water fishing. He had a very humble and caring soul who appreciated the every day things in life and took immense pleasure in having breakfast with Pop.

In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his sister, Lindsay Ciancola, maternal grandparents, Michael and Joan Annatone and paternal grandmother, Gloria Ciancola all of Orange, his beloved aunts and uncles, Michael (Lorie) and Jonathan (Lynn)Annatone, Victoria (Jim) DeCola and Paul, Charles and Mark (Sharon) Ciancola and eighteen cousins.  Joseph is also survived by is beloved and devoted dogs Bailey and Zoey.  He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Joseph P. Ciancola, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd, Orange. Interment to follow at Orange Center Cemetery.  Friends and family may call on Friday, November 4th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the URI Foundation- Baseball, in Memory of Joseph Ciancola;  URI Foundation, PO Box 1820 Kingston, RI 02881 or to the Ronald McDonald House, 45 Gay St., Providence, RI. 02905.
