Marie Frances Stella, 92, of Middlefield, beloved wife of the late Gene “Geno” Stella, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017.  Born on March 1, 1925 in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Carmela Calderone.   

Marie loved to cook, sew, and had an interest in painting. She had played piano since she was a little girl and also enjoyed tap dancing. She sang in the Meriden Community Chorus. Marie submitted many letters to the editor that were published in the Meriden Record Journal. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Marie is survived by her loving daughter, Jeanne (Henry) Silvestri; adoring grandchildren, Erica (Mark) Stella Lauer, John H. Silvestri, Michael F. Stella, and Gene W. Stella; beloved great grandchildren, Olivia and Nathan Lauer; siblings, William (Frances) Calderone and Catherine (Dominick) Bologna; daughter-in-law, Audrey Stella; and many more extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Michael William Stella.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Saint Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford, CT. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Avenue, Milford, CT.
