Peter Edward Piazza, 67, of Milford, CT passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Born on October 18, 1949 in New Hyde Park, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas Piazza and Helen (Fabiano) Piazza. He is survived by four children and four grandchildren as well as his loving sister, Diane and her husband John. He is now joined by his late wife, Lauretta.
Peter adored his childhood home of New Hyde Park, and he always found peace and humor in memories of time spent with family and friends. In 1985, he moved to Fairfield, CT with his wife, Lauretta, and son, Peter. These may have been the happiest times of his life. He was a loving husband and father. He worked as a Technical Writer for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, CT, while he and Lauretta built their life together. When life brought its toughest, Peter responded always with the strength of a survivor. After his wife’s untimely passing, Peter embraced the role of a single parent and did everything he could to provide a good life for his son. Later, as his health worsened, he persevered, keeping his family in the town they loved and always approaching life with a lighthearted sense of humor. He was supported during this time by the incredible loving devotion of his mother and sister. In 2000, he moved into the West River Healthcare Center in Milford, CT, who provided quality care and friendship for 17 years. Peter quickly embraced West River as his home, and his family will always be deeply appreciative of everything the staff did for him over almost two decades in their hands. He was also supported by the incredible loving devotion of his mother Helen, sister Diane, "and brother in law John." .
Peter was perhaps one of the most unique and lovable people you could meet. He had a joke for every moment and never took himself too seriously. Those who know him well will always remember his easy-going spirit and sweet heart. He had a wide range of personal interests, including old western movies, the harmonica, and the doo-wop songs that reminded him fondly of his childhood. He was an extremely talented artist, who painted actively when healthy and never kept any of his art for himself, providing cherished pieces over the years to family and friends. His spirit of survival, humor and light will live on in those who loved him.
