Ruth May French, 64, of Hamden, beloved wife of 34 years to Robert French, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2017. Born on November 26, 1953 in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Levina Sherman.  

Ruth was an incredibly generous woman who loved and cared for everyone she met. She did daycare in her home for 28 years nurturing each child as her own. She was a very talented painter, and was always baking or crafting. She loved to laugh and always knew how to make your day brighter with her quick wit and beautiful smile.

Along with her loving husband, Ruth is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Andrew) Porter; step-children, Dawn (Rodney) Dimick, Robert Scott French, and Michael E. French; grandchildren, Angelia (Ryan) D’Amico, Elizabeth (Kyle) McNary, Christine (Luke) Paige, and one Porter granddaughter on the way; great-grandchildren, Corey D’Amico, Devontay, Azile, Colton McNary, and Braeden Paige; siblings, Kathy (Charles) Ratto of South Carolina, Patricia (James) Wunsch and Milton B. (Stephanie) Sherman, all of Connecticut; and many extended family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. Interment will be at a later date.
