Serena Mulston
March 22, 1927 ~ November 26, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years OldSerena Mulston, 90, passed away on November 26, 2017 at home after a long battle with scleroderma. She was born in Westerly, RI on March 22, 1927 to the late Gaspare and Angelina Tudisca. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Warren; son, Mark Mulston and his wife Kathy; and daughter, Stacey Callahan and her husband Brian. She is also survived by her sister, Rosalie Coulombe of La Grange, GA; grandchildren, Courtney McSherry and her husband Peter and their daughter Madison, Stephen Callahan and Laura Callahan; sister-in-law, Marilyn Percy and her husband Steve; and many nieces and nephews.
Serena attended Stonington High School and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1949 with a B.A. degree in Liberal Arts. She worked at the University of Connecticut where she was responsible for issuing scholarships. It was there she met her future husband who was a graduate student and they married in December 1951. A longtime resident of Milford, Serena was a substitute teacher and special education teacher in the Milford School System for a short period of time. As part of her therapy following a heart attack, she discovered a natural talent for painting land and seascapes and interior decorating which she shared with family and friends. Serena liked to travel and made many trips through the U.S. and Europe, especially Italy. Her greatest joy was being with family who loved her very much. She had strong religious ties and attended Holy Infant Church in Orange until her illness limited her ability to be an active member.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Burial will be private. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT.
