Suzanne S. Ambriscoe, 90, of Orange, beloved wife of the late Francis B. Ambriscoe, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2017. Born on December 22, 1926 in Milford, CT she was the daughter of the late Frank T. Sapitowicz and Frances Gutrick Sapitowitz.

In 1944, Suzanne began a career in banking with the Milford Trust Company (now Bank of America) and also worked for Milford Savings Bank. She was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1945. On January 3, 1948, Suzanne and Francis were married at St. Mary Church in Milford. They moved to Orange in 1951 and remained residents the rest of their lives. Suzanne then worked for People’s Savings Bank (now People’s United Bank) and joined the Orange branch in 1964 as a Customer Service Representative. She became an Assistant Branch Manager and manager of Pay-By-Phone. At the time of her retirement in 1987, Suzanne was Branch Manager/Assistant Vice President of the Hawley Lane Branch in Trumbull.

Suzanne was a parishioner of Holy Infant Church in Orange and a member of the Women’s Guild. She was also a member of the Yale-New Haven Hospital Auxiliary. She received the 1972 Woman of the Year Award from the Business and Professional Women. She was a member of the Connecticut Past Presidents Association and an Honorary Past President of the CT/BPW. Suzanne was an avid duck pin bowler in high school and later a member of Jolly Bowlers Leagues. She loved gardening, needlework, traveling and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Suzanne is survived by her niece, Karen Hoar; Godchildren, Denise Carlson, Barbara Ambriscoe and John M. Barnick; brother-in-law, Anthony Olenski; great nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends. In addition to her husband, Francis B. Ambriscoe, she was predeceased by her sisters, Agnes S. Ignatowski and Barbara S. Olenski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford, CT. Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Orange, 605 Orange Center Rd. Suite A, Orange, CT 06477.
