Arthur T. (Art) Caruso, age 88 of Milford, CT, beloved husband of the late Jeanette M. Dannenberg Caruso, died April 16, 2022 at Bridgeport hospital after a brief illness with family by his side. Born in Stratford CT on May 9, 1933 he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mary Costantino Caruso. Mr. Caruso was a longtime resident of Milford. He worked as a Toolmaker for the Orcomatic Division of Eagle-Picher Industries for 47 years until his retirement.
Art was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserves in 1966. He was a member of the VFW Post 7788 Auxiliary, Elks BPOE Lodge 1589, the Tartan Club of Stratford, and an Associate Member of the Milford Volunteer Fire Dept Companies 1 & 2.
He enjoyed camping and fishing and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women’s Basketball. He played softball, was a Duckpin bowler and, along with Jeanette, was a member of the Long Beach Roller Skating Association. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren at home or at the campground.
He is survived by his sons Charles, Thomas Sr and James (Tracy Olah) Caruso; grandchildren Shiloh Caruso, Marissa Caruso, Danielle Caruso (Lamont Hill), James Caruso (Angela Ranciato), Alyssa Caruso, Samantha Caruso (Nick Franco), and Thomas Caruso Jr.; and great grandchildren Sincere Caruso, Destiny Hill, Jaelyn Luckes, Dashiah Johnson and Christopher Caruso; as well as 2 nieces and a nephew.
In addition to his wife of 53 years he was predeceased by brothers Frank T. Caruso of Stratford and Cpl. Carmen Caruso who was killed in action in the Korean War and was never recovered..
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Ann Church, 501 Naugatuck Ave., Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford. Memorial contributions may be made to either St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306, both of whom he supported.
