Bruce P. Sparks

Bruce Peter Sparks, 71, of North Haven, entered eternal rest on Nov. 20, 2021, with his beloved wife, Deborah E. Palmer, by his side. Bruce was born April 6, 1950, in Middlebury, Vt., to Arthur and Cecelia Boise Sparks. He grew up in Brookfield, Conn., and received a B.A. in English from Suffolk University and an MAT in English from Brown University. Bruce’s passion for the written word was at the center of his professional life—as a high school English teacher and in his career in printing at the former Columbia Press, Herlin Press, and Keno Graphic Services; he was also a published writer.

Bruce loved literature, music, fishing, and the great outdoors; he was particularly moved by the planets, the stars, and the open sky. He most enjoyed spending precious time with his friends. Ever ready to lend a hand, his loyalty was unmatched. It meant the world to him to participate in his friends’ travels, adventures, and life stories.

Bruce leaves behind his devoted wife, best friend, and caretaker, Debbie, and many nieces and nephews, beloved godchildren, and lifelong friends.

A Graveside Service celebrating Bruce’s life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Animal Haven Inc., 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473 or another charity of one’s choice.
