Carl Martin “Marty” Antisdale, 84, of Milford, beloved husband of 62 years of Barbara Lovell Antisdale, died peacefully on June 5, 2017, at Lord Chamberlain Rehabilitation Center, Stratford. Marty was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 21, 1932, the son of the late Carl and Virginia (Martin) Antisdale. Marty graduated from Milford High School in 1950 where he played baseball and was co-captain of the basketball team. He attended the University of Connecticut but interrupted his studies to enlist in the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Dix, NJ, and was assigned to duty in the Panama Canal Zone. He later returned to UConn where he received a BS degree in Industrial Administration in 1957. In 1982 Marty earned an MS degree in Management from the Hartford Graduate Center. He began his career in manufacturing at Raybestos-Manhattan, Inc., Stratford, CT, and later joined American Chain and Cable Company, Waterbury as materials manager. He was production control manager at Consolidated Diesel Electric Company, Old Greenwich, and vice president of materials management at both Emhart Corporation, Windsor, and Napier Co., Meriden. He ended his career as a manufacturing consultant at Unisys Corporation, Shelton. Marty was an active member of and contributor to the American Production and Inventory Control Society.  He was a frequent lecturer at Fairfield University on a variety of manufacturing topics.  He was a lifelong tennis player and was instrumental in forming the Milford Senior Tennis Association. He coached the Lauralton Hall varsity tennis team from 1996 to 2013 where he proudly posted a 236-102 record and was named 2012-13 Outstanding Girls Tennis Coach of the Year. Marty was a long-time volunteer at Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament, New Haven, and served on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Village of Milford for 20 years. He was an avid collector of Lionel model trains and built an extensive layout, entertaining his children, grandchildren and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Kevin and his wife Joan of Fairfield, Michael and his husband Mark Melanson of West Hartford, and Susan DuBrow and her husband Lee of Milford; five grandchildren: Connor Antisdale and his wife Samantha, Ryan and Evan Antisdale and Steven and Kevin DuBrow; and several nieces and nephews: Leila Gemme Connor of Manchester, NH, Andrew O’Connell of Wilton, Deborah Bowley of Bridgeport, Thomas Boyle and his wife Doe of Madison and Joseph Boyle and his wife Dennise of Oxford. He was predeceased by his sisters, Virginia Boyle and Leila O’Connell Clarke. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 13, at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford. Burial will be private.
