Hearts Love 32

Chance Dian Thompson

May 24, 2003 ~ July 9, 2022 (age 19) 19 Years Old

Tribute

Chance Dian Thompson, 19, of Orange, beloved daughter of Misty Thompson, passed away on July 9, 2022. She was born on May 24, 2003 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Chance was an honors graduate of The Sound School and currently enrolled as a sophomore at Eastern Connecticut State University where she was majoring in history and minoring in anthropology.  Chance had many passions in life from reading, volunteering at the Orange Historical Society, watching anime with her best friend Emma, planning her future or just hanging out with her many friends to name a few.

Her love for reading was immense.  She would visit a bookstore and always walk out with more than 1 book.

In addition to reading, Chance loved history, especially European history for which her college major was focused on.  She planned to visit Italy during her senior year of high school, but was unable due to COVID.  That didn’t deter her as she was planning not only to visit Italy, but other areas of Europe as well in the coming year.

Chance was one of the youngest elected board members of the Orange Historical Society where she volunteered often.

Most importantly Chance cared more about others than herself.  If she wasn’t helping someone with homework, offering her shoulder to cry on, encouraging others to preserver no matter what the odds were or just helping a complete stranger.  Chance impacted the lives of so many people in such a positive way that can’t be measured.

Along with her mom, Chance leaves behind her brother, Bryant Vanderlei; grandfather, Glen “Poppy” Ritzman; aunts and uncle, Kristy and Will Yocum, Jennifer Kline, and Jennifer Van Etten; cousins, Amanda, Jonathan, Marissa, Aaliyah, and Tavion; great uncle, Eugene Ries; godparents Lisa and Chris Dunn; father figure Allan Cox Jr., and many pets and good friends. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Sherrie Ritzman and great grandparents, Dian and Harlan Ries.
