Charles Joseph Smyth, 72, of Orange, entered into eternal rest on July 19, 2020. Born on March 13, 1948 in New York City, he was the son of the late Charles and Eleanor Smyth.
Charlie attended Manhattan College where he studied to be a mechanical engineer. He worked for many years as an engineer at Lycoming Textron, US Surgical and Pratt & Whitney. He loved his family, enjoyed tinkering, and loved hearing about his 4 grandchildrens’ adventures. He attended swim meets for Graham and Brendan and basketball games for Emily throughout their childhoods. He was a great support and you could always hear him in the crowd. He loved talking about commitment and seeing things through. It instilled a strong work ethic in all 3 of his kids.
Charlie loved his 4 grandchildren with all of his heart. He loved being their "Pops". They will miss sharing their adventures with him in the years to come.
Charles is survived by his children, Graham Smyth, Brendan (Mika) Smyth, and Emily (Matt) Ryan; grandchildren, Emi, Jude, Aya, and Zoey; siblings, Eleanor Smyth and Susan (Tom) Chaplik; and many extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Ann.
