Christine Ann Hayes

Christine A. Hayes, 90, beloved wife of the late Lloyd Hayes, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018, with her family by her side. Born on February 8, 1928, in Hamden, CT, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Rose Testa Bozzuto.  

Christine moved to Milford from Hamden after her marriage to Lloyd in 1949. Christine was a devoted mother to her five children and was a long-time parishioner of St. Agnes Church. She was active in the St. Agnes Guild and the Point Beach School PTA. Christine was also employed as a cafeteria worker at both Seabreeze Elementary School and Foran High School. Christine’s most important role, though, was as a mother and a grandmother. She greatly enjoyed spending Sunday evenings and holidays with her family. She will always be remembered for her delicious potato salad, her Christmas anginette cookies, and her ham pie at Easter.  Christine also enjoyed her weekend trips to her cottage on Lake Hayward, her yearly trips to Marco Island, Florida, and her extended trips around the United States. She was very proud of being able to say she had visited 49 out of the 50 states.

Christine is survived by her children, Gregory (Denise) Hayes, Thomas (Maryann) Hayes, Kenneth Hayes, Mark (Beverly) Hayes and Kimberly (John) Kennedy; her grandchildren, Jacqueline (Craig) Barone, Jennifer Hayes, Michael (Kara) Hayes, Peter (Kristen) Hayes, Laura (Zac) Martinez, Kaitlin Hayes, Stephanie Hayes, Emily (Kevin) Meise, Daniel Hayes, Benjamin Hayes, Connor Kennedy, Tyler Kennedy and Matthew Kennedy; along with her 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived her sisters, Phyllis DelGrego and Josephine Creegan, her sisters-in-laws, Betty Parmelee and Marie Bozzuto; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Julie Hayes; her brothers, John, Albert, and Anthony Bozzuto; and her sisters, Catherine Bozzuto and Lucille Kissel.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Agnes Church (Precious Blood Parish), 400 Merwin Ave., Milford. Interment will be at King’s Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation or American Diabetes Association.
