Daniel Baus

Daniel Raymond Baus, 93, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Joyce O. Baus, passed away on March 14, 2023. Born on May 22, 1929 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Daniel and Freida Baus.
 

Daniel is survived by his cherished son, Raymond Baus; and his loving "adopted" daughters Mary Evangelista Dietmann and Carrie O'Malley. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Ellen Baus.

Daniel graduated from Stratford High School in 1947. As a young person, he was an accomplished swimmer and lifeguard, and he enjoyed hanging at the Seawall with his buddies, The Riffs. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1951 and honorably discharged in 1957.

Following the tragic death of his father, Daniel made his own way and established his career as a manager in the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed playing cards with his friends Roy, John and Mike. Daniel was also a long time member and president of the Germania Schwaben Singing Society, where he made many friends and shared many adventures. 

Daniel was a dedicated husband and father, and will be greatly missed.

Services will be private. The family is being compassionately cared for by the staff at Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Shriners Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
