David (Dave) Cecil Foster, 73, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved husband of Tracey Wentworth Foster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 8, 2021. David was born on June 10, 1948 in Newport, Vermont. He was the son of the late Wilfred Cecil Foster and Liane Germaine Couture. David fought a courageous battle with lung cancer and passed away from complications from treatment.

David was born in Newport, Vermont and lived on the family farm until the family moved to Milford, Connecticut when David was 8 years old. David grew up in Milford and was a part of the first graduating class of Orchard Hills Elementary School (1962). David graduated from Milford High School in 1966 and then went into the army and fought in the Vietnam War. David was an avid baseball fan who played in his early years at US Motors Field on Old Gate Lane with his brothers and friends. His favorite team was the Detroit Tigers whom he would watch religiously. David also loved watching cartoons, such as Snoopy, Tom & Jerry, and the Three Stooges. His favorite band was Canned Heat which he most commonly listened to while he worked or while enjoying a beer in the pool. He loved watching old western movies but his two favorite movies were The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Easy Rider. David collected coins in his spare time and loved riding his motorcycle.

David was a carpenter by trade and worked at the Children’s Center of Hamden for 30 years. He made many lifetime friends while working at the Children’s Center and made connections with the students who attended the center.

David served in the U.S. Army from November 14, 1966 to November 3, 1968. David achieved the rank of E-4 Specialist while serving in the U.S. Army. David served in the Army’s 1st Field Force Corporation as an Artillery Specialist in the Vietnam War. David earned an expert marksmanship medal which helped him through three frontline campaigns in Vietnam. These campaigns earned him the following honors: Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; and, Presidential Unit Citation (3X).

David was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, uncle, friend, and veteran, his memory will be cherished by all who were privileged to know him. In addition to his loving wife, Tracey Wentworth Foster, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica Liane (Joseph) LaCava; son, David William Foster; granddaughters, Alaina and Ariana; sister, Diane (John Jordan) Montville; brother, Will (Maureen) Foster; sister-in-law, Cheryl Foster; sister, Sylvia Longo; brothers, Patrick (Diane) Foster and Dan (Jeannine) Foster; and many loving nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Foster; niece, Kimberly Foster; father-in-law, Robert Wentworth; brother-in-law, Alex Wentworth; and nephews, Russell and Bobby Wentworth.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. preceding a Funeral Service at 12 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 North Broad St., Milford, CT. The burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT.
