David G. Johnston, Jr., 80, of Milford, beloved husband of 58 years to Nancy Elizabeth Johnston, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2021. Born on May 9, 1941 in Freeport, NY, he was the son of the late Marion and David G. Johnston, Sr.
Dave graduated from Chaminade High School in 1959 and then attended and graduated from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. He graduated in 1963 and married Nancy soon after. He served in the Navy for four years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant at the time of his honorable discharge.
Dave met his future wife Nancy on a summer day in 1961 at Jones Beach, Long Island -- and trips to the beach became a very important part of their lives. Whether on their honeymoon to Bermuda, their first home at Virginia Beach, or later on Long Island and Milford they rarely missed an opportunity to travel to the beach.
Dave worked in a series of positions on Wall Street over the years and retired in 1994. Besides raising his four children he also raised seven collies over the years, the most recent, Reagan, being one of his favorites. Although he lived in the Northeast most of his life he was a true Dallas Cowboys fan. He never missed an opportunity to watch college and pro games.
Along with his wife, David leaves behind his children, Lisa (David) Kennedy, David (Debbie) Johnston, Steven (Alicia) Johnston, and Nancy (Akin) Inanir; grandchildren, Caitlin, Thomas, Matthew, Gavin, Kylie, Evan, Blake, Ashley, and Michael; his faithful collie, Reagan; and extended family and friends.
All services will be private. The family is being compassionately cared for by the staff at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
