David Anthony Samelwich

David Anthony Samelwich, 73, of Milford, beloved husband of Janet (Kelley) Samelwich, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2022. Born on July 9, 1949 in Greenwich, CT, he was the son of the late Anthony and Victoria (Mantella) Samelwich.

In addition to his beloved wife of 46 years, Dave is survived by his children, Lisa (Jared) Moretti, and Anthony (Amber Hawks) Samelwich; his grandchildren, Macallen and Piper; and his many nieces and nephews.  Dave was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Samelwich, James Samelwich, and Rosemary Woods.

Dave studied tree sciences at the Davey Institute in 1978 and worked for Davey Tree as a foreman.  Dave was the owner and operator of David’s Landscaping until his illness in 2007.  He loved to go fishing and hunting.  He was an avid sports fan, watching NASCAR, the Yankees and the Giants. Dave enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 10am at Saint Ann Church (Saint Raphael Parish) 501 Naugatuck Ave, Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT. Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA.
