David Paul Serfilippi, 75, of Orange, beloved husband of Cheryl (Grieb) Serfilippi, passed away on July 26, 2022. Born on December 22, 1946 in New Haven, CT, he was the son of the late Primo and Enis (Paul) Serfilippi.
David taught special needs children at May V. Carrigan Intermediate School in West Haven for 33 years and was instrumental in founding Tall Oaks Camp for special needs kids. David was a “foodie” who loved to cook, eat and exchange recipes. He was also an avid baseball fan who played from childhood until the Twilight League. He enjoyed routing for the Mets. In memory of David, follow his advice and “take a child to a game”.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his sister-in-law, Leona Heckendorf; niece and nephew, Robert Heckendorf and Dana (Bill Butler) Kalina; great niece and nephews, Ty (Ruth) and Mike Heckendorf, and Sara Kalina; and great-great nephew, Henry Heckendorf. David was predeceased by his cousin, Ronald Nardini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Holy Infant Church 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridgeport Hospital Foundation 267 Grant St. Bridgeport, CT 06610.
