Donald R. Civitello, 72, of Milford, beloved husband of Lorraine (Carozza) Civitello, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2017. Don was born in New Haven, CT, on October 19, 1944 to the late Domenic and Mary Civitello.

Don grew up in Hamden, attended Hamden High School and went on to graduate from Southern CT State University. He began as a teacher at Milford High School, moved to Foran High School and then became the Director of Pupil Personnel and Special Education Services, for a total of 41 years as an educator and administrator providing for children with special needs in Milford. Don was an assistant football coach at Milford High School and head football coach at Foran High School. He was an avid Giants and Yankees fan and a faithful parishioner of St. Mary Church in Milford. Don founded Camp Happiness in 1967, a camp for children with disabilities, which is celebrating its 50 year anniversary this year. Even with all his accomplishments and joys in life, nothing could compare to the love Don had for his family, especially his grandchildren.

Don leaves behind his daughters, Lynne (Raimondo) Marullo of Enfield and Susanne (Francis) Mullings of Newington; four granddaughters, Emily and Katie Marullo and Olivia and Kayla Mullings; his brothers-in-law, Charles Witteman and Vincent Seibold; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Maryann Witteman and Dorothy Seibold.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Interment will take place at a later date at the discretion of the family. Friends and family may call on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St. Milford, CT.
