Donald grew up on the beach in Milford, where he developed a lifelong love for fishing and the outdoors. After graduating from Milford High School, Donald honorably enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country on the USS New Jersey during the Korean War. Donald dedicated his professional life to the UI Company where he worked diligently until his well-deserved retirement. He was a proud member of his local VFW, where he continued to enjoy camaraderie and a friendly game of pool with his fellow servicemen.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Donald found joy in various hobbies and pastimes. He was an avid bowler, showcasing his skills on both the high school bowling team and the UI Company bowling team. In his leisure time he enjoyed daytime trips to the casino and working in his yard. In earlier days, he enjoyed fishing off the Milford dock for snappers and taking peaceful walks around the duckpond and downtown green, which often included walks with his grandchildren to Wanda’s Sugar Shack. Donald was known for his tremendous love for his family, kind and beautiful heart and his love for sweets!
