Evelyn Fisher Hendricks, 90, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved wife of the late Bruce William Hendricks Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2022. Born on July 28, 1931 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Harold Holton Fisher and Irene Rose Pruckner.
Evelyn lived in Stratford through her school age years. She was a graduate of Stratford High School. After attending College, her career started as a loving mother and homemaker. She was an exceptional seamstress in sewing clothes and assisting neighbors with their needs for mending, altering, and hemming articles of clothing. Evelyn then worked as an EKG/EEG technician, employed by Milford Hospital for many years. Evelyn always looked forward and enjoyed volunteering on Election Day in Milford, accompanied by her husband, Bruce. She volunteered yearly for the American Heart Association, collecting contributions. Evelyn was also involved with the Girl Scouts with her daughters. For many years, Evelyn and Bruce belonged to Connecticut Singletons Square Dance Club. They enjoyed their weekends square dancing and socializing with their friends. Every summer Evelyn hosted a large “July Birthday Celebration Picnic” for the many July birthdays of her family and friends. Evelyn always had a love for birds, especially Cardinals. She enjoyed her gardening, with many flowers. Evelyn and Bruce always enjoyed their road trip vacations. Several favorite pastimes that Evelyn enjoyed were watching old movies, completing puzzles with her caregivers, and making holiday cookies for everyone to enjoy.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Patricia Maxwell Stokes and her fiancé Joseph Garcia Jr; stepdaughter, Paige Hendricks Ransford and her husband Larry; daughter-in-law, Thérèse Maxwell; daughter, Pamela Maxwell Kenney and her husband William; sister-in-law, Arlene Ollayos; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, extended family and friends.
Evelyn was predeceased by a brother, William Harold Fisher; a son, Clifford Erle Maxwell; and a brother-in-law, Bill Ollayos.
A special everlasting thank you to Esty and her family for having a wonderful lifetime close friendship with Evelyn and her family. Also a heartfelt thank you to her many caregivers who became a genuine part of her family.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD STREET, MILFORD, CT 06460. Interment will be private.
