Evelyn S Tarnawa

Evelyn S. Tarnawa, 83, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Rudolph Tarnawa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 2, 2020. Born on January 25, 1937 in Manchester, NH, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Stella (Snitko) Goode.

Evelyn graduated high school and traveled with her spouse as he served in the Air Force. They settled in Rudy’s hometown of Milford. Evelyn graduated from a nursing program and spent several decades as a dedicated and loving private duty nurse. Evelyn’s hobbies included knitting, jigsaw puzzles, and baking. She enjoyed sharing her baked goods and recipes with her neighbors and friends. Evelyn had a love for animals; she always had dogs and an assortment of other pets in her home. Her current dog, Molly, never left her side. She had several birdhouses and bird feeders in her yard and enjoyed watching the birds that visited.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Kenneth Longfield, Gene Longfield, and Mark Tarnawa; her grandchildren, Michael Tarnawa, Nicola Frizell, and Hallie Tarnawa; her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jacob, and Rudy; and her very close friend, Theresa Byrnes and her family.

A Graveside Service will take place at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at King’s Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford, CT. Family and friends may call prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 N. Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. Social distancing and masks will be required. Due to gathering size limitations, only 25 people will be allowed inside at a time. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
