Florence Patricia (Hay) Benard

Florence Hay Benard, age 76, of Milford, beloved wife of 56 years to John Benard, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on August 19, 2018. Mrs. Benard was born in Newark, NJ on October 8, 1941 to the late John Hay and Josephine Rey Hay.

Flo moved to CT at a young age and graduated from Central High School class of 1960. She worked in various clerical and customer support positions, the last being with American Frozen Foods. Flo, a woman of great faith, was a longtime parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Church in Milford. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Flo’s beauty was only surpassed by the compassion of her heart. She was loved by all that knew her. She enjoyed traveling and all the people she met along the way.

Florence is survived by her husband, John Benard; three loving daughters, Michelle Mosher of Milford, Tracy Siddall of Milford and Wendy (Jeffrey) Matchett of Milford; five grandchildren, Victoria Siddall, Brian Mosher, Ryan Siddall, Dylan Matchett and Tanner Matchett; her sister, Darlene (Frank) Miller; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John Hay. Flo’s family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and techs at St. Vincent’s Hospital and a special thank you to the ER, 9 South, 10 East and Short Stay staff members for the kindness and compassion they showed her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Interment will be private.
