Frances Garkovich Zgola, 91, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved wife of the late Frank F. Zgola, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.  Born on January 2, 1926, in Crucible, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John Garkovich and Rose Zellar Ponick.  Fran was a great cook, loved to watch her soap opera, and a great dancer, earning the nickname of “Ginger Rogers” in her youth.  She was the life of every party, always quick, cheerful and good spirited, and will be remembered for all her easily identifiable hats. 

She is survived by her son, Frank J. Zgola and his wife Donna Tregaskis; her daughter Carol Lively (Robert); sister MaryJane Semonick; brother Ignac Garkovich (Carol); grandchildren Monica Zgola (Zakhar Razumovskiy); Melissa Zgola (Brian Nauheimer); Margo Zgola; Robert J. Lively and Brad Lively; Jae Verner (Kaileigh Osarczuk); and great-granddaughter Madeleine Nauheimer. Fran was predeceased by her 3 brothers Paul, Carlo and Mike Garkovich and sisters Anna Lednovich and Louise Penn.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. Contributions may be made in Fran’s memory to the Salvation Army, your local VFW, or a charity of your choice.
