Giovanni "Nannino" DeRubeis

Giovanni DeRubeis, 91, of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2020, after a brief illness. He was born on February 23, 1929 in Settefrati, Italy, son of the late Loreto and Concetta DeRubeis.

Giovanni is survived by his wife of 32 years, Rita Vitti DeRubeis, children David J. DeRubeis, Sr. and his wife Bernadette of Milford, Connecticut, Connie McAdams and her husband Dennis of Little Falls, New York, Giovanni DeRubeis, of Stamford, Connecticut, Joseph DeRubeis, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Anthony DeRubeis and his wife Tara, of Yonkers, New York; grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and Matt Crannell, Leanne and Jim Dooley, Vincent and Becky McAdams, Jonathan and Christina DeRubeis, Drew DeRubeis, David J. DeRubeis, Jr., Mary DeRubeis, Jacob DeRubeis, Joey DeRubeis, Kelsey DeRubeis and Anthony DeRubeis; great-grandchildren, Emma, Hadley, Audrina, Gianna, Logan, Ryan, Mason, and Chase. He is also survived by his sisters Lina Rustici and her husband Domenico of Stamford, Connecticut, and Antonia Vitti and her husband Domenico of Settefrati, Italy, brother Vincent DeRubeis and his wife Paula of Monroe, Connecticut; and many beloved nieces and nephews living throughout the United States and Italy. Besides his parents, Giovanni was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Rocca) DeRubeis, and his siblings, Davide, Luigi "GiGino", and Rosaria Vitti.

Giovanni was a mason/bricklayer by trade, following in the footsteps of his father. He was a man of few words but never missed the opportunity to tell you how much he loved you.  He most enjoyed being with his family and spending his summers in Settefrati, Italy.  

A celebration of his life will take place at a later date in his beloved Settefrati. The family is being compassionately cared for by the staff at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street Milford, CT 06460.
