August 22, 1947 ~ January 12, 2022 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

Glenn Alan Kindilien, 74, of Stratford, passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2022. Born on August 22, 1947 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Carlin Kindilien and Priscilla (Warren) Kindilien.

Glenn is survived by his three children, Kelly Wilson and her husband Derek Wilson, Becky Kindilien, and Adam Kindilien; his sister Donna Flatley and her husband Jim; his brother Brian Kindilien and his wife Vicki and their son Wyatt; his step-brother Tim McCarthy; his grandchildren Alexandra Szabo, Ryan Szabo, Ethan Wilson, Bailey Wilson; his former wife Dawn Kindilien of 22 years; her son Kyle Johnson and his son Jadon; her daughter Kari and husband Mike Brinsco and their son Austin.

Glenn attended Old Lyme High School.  He received his A.A. at Mitchell College, his B.A. at the University of Connecticut, and his M.A. at Pennsylvania State University.  Glenn was a Professor at Housatonic Community College from the year 1971 until his retirement and continued to teach there after retirement until 2020, for a total of 49 years.  He absolutely loved teaching.  He was a talented writer.  He wrote several poems and had Triad, a book of poetry published, along with fellow Housatonic Professors, Bob Isaacs and Peter Ulisse.

He was a consistent support to his children and grandchildren through their high and low times. He had a kind and calm, gentle soul and had a fabulous sense of humor.  In his spare time, he found passion attached to writing and creating and telling jokes to entertain others.  He sent daily comics to some family members and he was infamous for always having a knock-knock joke ready when he would meet up with you!

He enjoyed fishing especially in the area of Old Lyme where he spent many of his years.  He particularly found enjoyment exploring the Connecticut 8-mile River and Uncas Pond.  He loved the beach and enjoyed spending time vacationing in Cape Cod, MA.

In his youth, he was an avid athlete, and shared many stories of participating in the sports of football, soccer and track.  In his later years, he enjoyed running and participated in several races.

For a man to claim not to like dogs he had an obvious soft spot for them and was devoted to not only his own dogs but also others of friends who he would look after.
