Gordon R. Pinckney

Gordon R. Pinckney, 86, of Milford, beloved husband of Phyllis Pinckney, entered peacefully into rest on July 19, 2021 following a brief illness at home. Gordon was born in Danbury, CT, son of the late Gordon E. Pinckney and Christine A. Mannion.

A graduate of Danbury High School, he resided in Danbury prior to making his home in Milford for more than 60 years. Gordon was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during Korea as an aviation mechanic and was honorably discharged. He was later employed by Stop and Shop as a grocery manager. A familiar face to many in the community, he was recognized for his love of walking. Following retirement, he remained busy in several part-time jobs including many years as a security guard at Schick. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors and dedicated time later in his life to growing and expanding his many gardens. His greatest joy was a devotion to his family and he cherished time spent with them. 

In addition to his beloved wife Phyllis, he is survived by his loving children, a son Jeffrey Pinckney (Aimee) and a daughter Janice Holmes (Peter), as well as his much loved six grandchildren, Tyler Holmes, Madeline Holmes, Ryan Holmes, Abby Pinckney, Keegan Pinckney and Delaney Pinckney. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings including Robert Pinckney (Minnie) of Orange, John Pinckney (Theresa) of Florida, Pamela Brushi (William) of Maine, Nancy Barchi (Richard) of Bethel, Peter Pinckney (Terri) of Danbury, Kelly Pinckney of Newtown and many nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at a later date at Mary Taylor Methodist Church in Milford.
