Dr Howard Alan Harris, 82, of Orange, Connecticut, beloved husband of Carolyn Sher Harris, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2022. Born on August 22, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ben and Mary Bauman Harris. In addition to his wife Carolyn, he is survived by his daughter Lauren Harris Pitrak, son-in-law Jeffery Pitrak, as well as three grandchildren Hunter, Trevor, and Dylan.
Howard earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Yale University and a JD from St Louis University School of Law. The professional positions he held include being a research chemist for Shell, Director of the New York City Crime Lab, Director of the Monroe County Public Safety Lab, and a Professor of Forensic Science at University of New Haven where he retired as a Professor Emeritus. In his capacity as a Research Chemist and Forensic Scientist he co-authored three books and received five patents for his research.
