Our beloved Son, James Braxton Haig, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, June 3, 2017.  We know that Jim is in Jesus’ Arms, safe and sound in Heaven, but we are in anguish as we miss this kind-hearted, generous, fun-loving, strong young man.  At the time of his passing, Jim was in the process of completing his final year at the University of Connecticut.  He was a graduate of St. Bernard’s School in Uncasville, Connecticut, Class of 2011.  He joins his only sibling, his dear sister, Emily Elizabeth Haig, who went to be with our Lord Jesus in 2006.

Jim was born onboard Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina.  For the first nineteen years of his life, he was a “military brat,” following his active duty father with the rest of the family from North Carolina, to California, and then on to various military assignments up and down the east coast.  Jim enjoyed baseball and skateboarding as a youngster, graduating to motocross biking and snowboarding as a young adult.  He loved fishing and boating with his father, and had a sparkling brilliance when it came to fixing almost anything, whether it was an engine, a broken door, an electronic device, or a bland tasting meal.  Though modest about his musical ability, Jim was also an extremely talented self-taught musician, playing the drums and guitar with an incredible sophistication and signature.

Jim always had a twinkle in his eyes, and a very special and funny sense of humor.  He was an incredible comedic mimic, and he demonstrated a deep love, kindness, and empathy for the less fortunate people in this world.  Jim would literally give you the shirt off of his back or his last nickel without hesitation.  He often said that God supplies.

Jim is survived by his father, Clyde Andrew Haig, his mother, Elizabeth McEvoy Haig, his grandfather, Dr. Armen Charles Haig, and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins (Scott and Stephanie Haig, Hilary and Douglas Holowink, Wayne and Sharon  Haig, Amy and Peter Wagner, Susan and William Pierce, Carolyn and Grady Thomas, Jean and David Savage, Robert and Claire McEvoy, Cecilia Stallsmith, Samuel Haig, Sarah Haig, Henry Haig, Victoria Parker, Prescott Holowink, Susannah Haig, John Haig, Christin Haig, Caroline Haig, Jackson Wagner, Benjamin Wagner, Christian Wagner, Amy Savage, James Pierce, Benjamin Pierce, Daniel Pierce, David Savage, Margaret Savage, and John Savage).

We thank God for Jim and we thank Him that Jim is safe and sound in Heaven.  Our hearts bleed, but underneath it all is the peace and comfort of knowing that Jesus has him in His arms now and for eternity.
