Janet Thelma Hurley Roller, 63, of Meriden, beloved wife of Louis Roller for 45 years, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2017. Born on November 2, 1953 in Milford, she was the daughter of Irvin Hurley and the late Roberta Hurley.

Janet had a passion and talent for wood carving and owned her own shop for a time. She worked for Meals on Wheels before eventually becoming a police and fire dispatcher for the city of Meriden for the past 15 years. She took great honor in serving and helping the people of Meriden. Her kind heart, confidence, and helpful nature made her a natural at the job. One night at work, during a distress call from a potential mass shooting, Janet reassured her co-workers, "We've got this," and they did. Their quick and clear response helped ensure everyone's safety.

Janet had a smile that could light up a room and a sense of humor that caused contagious laughter. She was loved and admired, a woman others strove to be like. Classy, sassy, caring, and nurturing. She was affectionately known as "Mama Roller," touching the lives of everyone who had the pleasure to know her.

Janet's spirit shone brightly through adversity. She fought her first battle with cancer and won, bit it right in the hind quarters! She inspired those who were struggling and gave them hope. Janet mentored, encouraged, and cheered people on.  Her indomitable spirit and positivity never quit, and she was famous for saying, "It's all about your attitude."

Along with her husband Louis and father Irvin, Janet is survived by her son Brian Roller and wife Amanda, daughter Megan Sparks and fiancé Peter Lenz, and son Douglas Roller and wife Stacey Watson; grandchildren, Riley Sparks, Derek DeGraff, Mallori Sparks, Thelma Roller, Quinn Roller, and Douglas Morehouse Roller, II; her sister, Susan Tummins and husband Tim; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

A Funeral Talk will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT, 06460. Interment will be private. Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
