Dr. Jean F. Jones, 92, of Orange, beloved wife of the late Harry W. Jones, passed away on June 16, 2018. Born on January 19, 1926 in Lapeer, NY, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Louise Francisco.
Jean received her bachelor’s degree from Hunter College in Manhattan and her medical doctorate from New York Medical College, specializing in pediatrics. She was an active member of the Orange Congregational Church where for many years she taught Sunday school, was church librarian, helped organize the Summer Encounter program and was a member of the women’s fellowship. Jean obtained an Advanced UConn Master Gardener Certification and took much pride in the beautiful gardens that surrounded her home. She loved learning and was an O.C. Marsh Fellow at the Peabody Museum as well as a longtime member of the New Haven Mineral Club and Orange Historical Society.
Jean is survived by her son, Hal (Lisa) Jones; her daughter-in-law, Carol Jones; and her grandchildren, Liza, Samuel, Peter, and Harry IV Jones. In addition to her husband, Jean was predeceased by her son, David E. Jones, and her siblings, Wanda and Kenneth.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 10am at Orange Congregational Church, 205 Meetinghouse Ln., Orange, CT 06477. Memorial contributions may be made to the Orange Congregational Church.
