Jeannette Fontaine Dermody
April 17, 1916 ~ June 19, 2017 (age 101) 101 Years OldJeannette Fontaine Dermody, 101, formerly of Milford and Crosby Commons in Shelton, beloved wife of the late Roland H. Fontaine, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2017. Jeannette was born on April 17, 1916 to the late Walter and Rosealma Jacques Demers.
Jeannette was very active in the Milford community. She served as a crossing guard for 36 years as well as being a member of the Democratic Town Committee, Senior Citizens Group of Milford and American Legion Post #34. Jeannette also volunteered her time at Saint Agnes Church as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Ladies Guild. She was a Justice of the Peace and enjoyed reading, volunteering, knitting, and singing in the choir.
Jeannette is survived by her children, Raymond (Deborah) Fontaine and Claire (Walter) Stapleton; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one due in January of 2018; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her second husband, William C. Dermody, one brother, and three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on June 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford, CT. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT. The family is being compassionately cared for by the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad Street Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jeannette’s name may be made to Seasons Hospice at seasonsfoundation.org.
