Joan Williams Carroll age 79 passed away peacefully Friday, May 24, 2019. Joan was predeceased by her husband Thomas Richard Carroll. Survived by her brothers Frank Williams and Richard Williams. Joan is survived by her daughters Leslie Carroll and Susan Carroll Dwyer. Grandaughters Katherine Angus, Victoria Angus Anderson, and Bridget Carroll Dwyer. Son in Laws Matthew Dwyer and Dylan Anderson. Her dear friend and “sister” Arlene Williams. Predeceased by her parents Pauline and David Williams.
Director of Yale Parking and Transit for many years, Joan had many interests. Spending time with her granddaughters along with her husband Tom, they ran a summer program of tennis, fishing, museum trips, walks along the beach and ice cream. Camp Joan and Tom was special.
A true sports fan, Joan followed football, boxing, track, and most especially tennis. Joan loved to paint, watch classic movies, and sing along with Sinatra, Diana Krall and Tony Bennett. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables with Tom. Antiquing was a favorite pastime and restored treasures filled their home. Home Depot was regularly frequented, always working on projects.
Joan will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was one in a million, remarkable for her breadth of knowledge, sharp wit, being a port in a storm and her sense of humor.
