Tribute

John V. Castello, 96, of Milford, Connecticut, beloved husband of the late Natalie (Pererwa) Castello, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 28, 2020. Born on September 11, 1923, he was the son of the late Paul and Concetta (Puzzo) Castello.

John was born in New Britain, Connecticut and grew up in the Little Italy neighborhood of Bronx, New York. He enlisted in the United States Army after graduation from DeWitt Clinton High School. He served in the 101st Airborne (Screaming Eagles) and was part of Operation Market Garden and the Battle of Bastogne. In the Burgoyne Woods, he recalled “that I was so far out that I could have been one of the first to hear the clank, clank, clank of Patton’s tanks” as they approached Bastogne. After WWII, John graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn with a BSME and began his career in heating and air conditioning. John met Natalie in New York City and they raised their family in Milford. He founded Temp Air Company in 1966. John and Natalie loved traveling the world and he enjoyed sports, especially baseball and the New York Yankees.

John is survived by his loving family, son Paul (Kate) Castello, daughter Ann (Chris) Mullen, grandchildren, Michael Mullen, John Castello, Steven Mullen, Mary Castello and Matthew Mullen, sister Tina Laraia, brother-in-law Eugene Pererwa and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his stepson, Pierre Davey and brother-in-law Frank Laraia.
