John Joseph Cusmano, 79, lifelong resident of Milford, beloved husband of Pauline Cusmano for 57 years, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2019. John was born on March 31, 1940 in New York, NY to the late Joseph and Lillian Cusmano.
John was a loving husband, father and grandfather and made sure his family knew how special they were to him. While his children were in school, he was President of the PTO at West Main Street School and was also a Little League Baseball Coach. John owned a Nationwide Insurance Agency in Milford, with dozens of faithful clients who constantly asked about his wellbeing. He additionally owned many restaurants throughout Milford. John was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus, American Legion in Milford and was also a member of the VFW in Hobe Sound, FL. He was a well-respected resident of Milford who generously gave his time and energy to the community he loved so dearly. In his spare time, John enjoyed cooking, photography, spending time at the beach, and was a devoted Yankee fan.
In addition to his wife, Pauline, John leaves behind his children, Cathy (Frank) Schiumo, Joanne (Bill) Hastings and John (Kym D’Agostino) Cusmano, Jr.; grandchildren, Matthew and Tyler Schiumo, Lauren and Kathryn Hastings and Ava and John Cusmano; two sisters and their spouses; and several nieces and nephews.
John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the VA Hospital, Shady Knoll Health Care Center and the ALS Association as well as the many independent healthcare providers who gave John the utmost care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Rd., Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT.
