John E. O'Hare

John O’Hare, 95, of Orange, beloved husband of Rita Firth O’Hare, passed away on July 24, 2022. Born on October 28, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Katheryn Basquil O’Hare, he was the oldest of four children.

John grew up in Hamden and attended local schools. In 1953, John joined the Hamden Fire Department and served until his retirement in 1991 when he became a member of the Hamden Firefighters Retirement Association. John was a past member of Oak Lane and New Haven Country Clubs. He enjoyed antique cars. When he drove his beautiful blue 1975 Chrysler Cordoba around town, he was the envy of all of his friends.

Besides his wife of 30 years, John is survived by his daughter, Joan Roche and her husband Thomas of Branford; a son, and his wife Judy of Middletown; brother, Arthur and his wife Kay of VT; beloved grandchildren, Jamie Stephan and her husband David of NC, Jacqueline O’Hare of PA, Jennifer O’Hare of Hamden, Thomas Roche of PA, and Jerard O’Hare of Middletown; great grandchildren, Josephine and Henry Stephan. John is also survived by his extended family, Alan and Marie Firth of VA; Jonathan and Susan Firth of NJ and their children, Simon and Otis. John was predeceased by his son, David and brothers, Thomas and William.

Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 9am to 10am at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Holy Infant Church 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT.
