John “Jack” Finnell, 94, formerly of Milford, beloved husband of the late Maria “Mary” Finnell, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022. Born on November 19, 1927 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late John Finnell and Helen Finnell Barnes.
Jack graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport. Jack was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was self-employed through the years, including owning Quality Vending in Milford, until its sale in 1989. He was an avid golfer and a member of multiple country clubs in his lifetime. He enjoyed playing in golf tournaments and playing cards. He was well respected by his many friends and always had great concern for others. He wanted to make sure that people were taken care of and he could often be heard asking, “Are you okay? Can I get you anything?’ Above all else, Jack loved his family and he will be missed by many.
Jack is survived by his son, John “Jack” Finnell II; 3 grandchildren, Crystal Sinnott and her husband, John, John "Jack" III, and Michael Finnell; 3 great-grandchildren, Colton, Kinsley, and Hadley Sinnott. Additionally, he leaves behind his sister, Joan Goda, longtime companion, Roseann “Rose” Daddona; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jack was predeceased by his step-father, Edward Barnes.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Gabriel Church (Saint Raphael Parish), 26 Broadway, Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Burial will follow at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, 219 New Haven Ave., Derby.
