Joseph H. Blanchard, 78, of West Haven and formerly of Milford, beloved husband of the late Linda Mae Blanchard, passed away on February 8, 2021. Born on January 6, 1943 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the Albany and Stella Blanchard. Joe graduated from Becker Junior College in 1962 with an Associate Degree and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Denver.

Joseph was a dedicated youth baseball and basketball coach for all four sons in the Milford Junior Major League and the Milford Junior Basketball League from the late 70’s to the early 90’s. Serving as coach, board member, and President. Joe passionately wrote for the Milford Citizen newspaper covering the Recap of local sports.

He was a Financial Analyst at Perkin Elmer in Norwalk, CT, and later at Peoples Bank in Bridgeport. He was an active member at Grace Baptist Church. There he served as a Trustee and a Deacon. A devoted family man, Joe loved to Travel with Linda and his family. Joe loved following all six of his grandchildren's pursuits. Attending performances and games whenever possible.

Joe leaves behind his children, Joseph Blanchard, Jr., Marc (Elke) Blanchard, Eric (Emily) Blanchard, and Carl (Kelly) Blanchard; his grandchildren, Grace, Stella, Maggie, Hannah, Ryder, and Lennon.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 400 Burnt Plains Rd., Milford. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery. The family is being compassionately cared for by the staff at Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
