Kenneth A. Burton

Kenneth Albert Burton, 73, of Milford CT, beloved husband of Kathleen and father to Scott and Lee, entered into eternal life peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. The son of Albert and Annie Burton, he was born on January 15, 1945 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England.

After coming to the United States in 1972 with his wife Kathleen, Kenneth was a long-time employee of the Facilities and Engineering department at Bridgeport Hospital where he worked for 37 years.

Ken had a love for music, particularly classical and country guitar and took guitar lessons for many years. He was able to meet his guitar idol Chet Atkins twice over the years.

A long-time electronics hobbyist he was also a licensed amateur radio operator, both in the United Kingdom under the callsign G4JRW and in the United States under the FCC callsign WA1YCX. Along with his late brother in law Joseph Sefcik he was a longtime member of the Coastline Amateur Radio Association where he made numerous long-time friends. Through the CARA, Ken volunteered for many emergency communication preparedness events for Milford Medical Reserve Corps.

Kenneth volunteered his time and spent many years working with Boy Scout Troop 18 of Milford, where both his sons were members and achieved Eagle Scout awards. He enjoyed the numerous camping trips and troop trips to Washington DC, Gettysburg, and Hershey Park.

After retiring from Bridgeport Hospital, Ken continued to work with CARA and also made a number of new friends while frequenting Little Lasse’s for breakfast.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. Burial will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford, CT. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 3 to 7pm at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT.
