Tribute

Leona (Greto)  Gargiulo, 78, of  Milford,  passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 12, 2021.  Born on April 26, 1943 in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of Isabel Greto and the late Elia (Leo) Greto.

After living in Boston and Roxbury MA, the family moved to Connecticut. Leona graduated from Milford High School in 1961. Through the years she was employed by Robert Shaw Industries, Community Health Care Plan (CHCP) , Caldor, CT Hospice and Unilever.

Leona had a passion for cooking. Every holiday she became Chef of the Day, making dinner for her family. Her Toll House Cookies were her signature dessert and we would fight over them. Leona also loved to travel, read and play cards.

Leona leaves behind her children, Lisa (Jim) Gillespie, Gina Gargiulo, and Laura Manning; grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly, Melissa, Amanda, Jacob, Hannah, Jessica, and Joseph; great grandchildren, Brayden, Parker, Charlotte, Piper, Quinn, and Natalie; siblings, Carol (Paul) Kane, Rose Tulli, and Steven Greto; niece and nephew, Sarah  and Adam  Davies; and  many cousins, extended family, and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. that day at Saint Agnes Church (Precious Blood Parish), 400 Merwin Ave., Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate.
