Linda C. Moquet

February 6, 1952 ~ December 29, 2020 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tribute

Linda Mae Moquet (Crawford), 68, of Orange, beloved wife of Douglas Raymond Moquet, passed peacefully of natural causes on the morning of December 29, 2020.  Born on February 6, 1952 in Orange, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Fred Forneur Crawford and Sally Karr Crawford (Grant).

Linda led a distinguished 35-year career as a product manager and environmental safety specialist at several large corporations, including Procter & Gamble, in Bethel; Seton Identification Products, in Branford; General Electric in Fairfield; and Stauffer Chemical in Westport.  From 2006 until her passing, she worked for Duracell, Inc., a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, in Bethel, holding various positions, including North America and Latin America Product Safety Division Manager.

Linda was a proud 1970 graduate of Joel Barlow High School in Redding.  She then attended Cazenovia College in Madison County, NY and completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies at Quinnipiac University in Hamden.  She later earned her Master’s in Environmental Science from Southern Connecticut State University in 1998.

Linda met her husband, Doug, on Anchor Beach in Woodmont, in 1985.  Throughout thirty-five years of devoted marriage, they traveled the country and remained faithful companions until the end.  Linda was a devoted mother, and took special delight in commissioning her son, Major Douglas Moquet, Jr., into the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps in 2014. Celebrated by her colleagues for making them feel special and appreciated, Linda frequently gave gifts and organized social events for her “work family.” She also coordinated the Barlow Lunch Group, staying connected with her classmates and celebrating their life milestones.

In addition to her many professional and academic accomplishments, Linda enjoyed cooking delicious family meals and caring for the family’s several rescue cats, including the late Mingo, Little Kitty, Jellybean, Meeper, Peeper, Flufkin, Lucy, and Striper.  She is survived by her beloved tortoiseshell, Pandy—who was always by her side.

An avid traveler, Linda loved touring Puerto Rico’s northern coast with her husband and vacationing each summer with her extended family on Block Island, RI.  For Linda, family attendance at cocktail hour was non-negotiable, along with sunsets, white wine, and littleneck clams. Still, she savored nothing more than moments spent with her sister Debbie and brother-in-law Dennis Bernas; daughter-in-law Sheridan Ribbing; in-laws Jon and Leslie Whitlock; niece Sarah Whitlock, her husband Jessie Schiffrin and their beautiful twins Natalie and Charlotte; and late nephew Mark Whitlock.

Linda had a discerning taste for cuisine and loved dining at her favorite restaurants where she always treated the waitstaff like family.  She took special pride in preparing her famous shrimp cocktail, which was a perennial hit at holiday dinners.  Naturally beautiful, Linda loved fashion and selecting outfits for herself—but particularly for her husband and son. They will never be without need for her tender love, guidance, and support.  She will be sorely missed.

Services and burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 E. Main St., Branford CT, 06405.
