Louise McKenna, 91, of Lincoln, Rhode Island and Milford, Connecticut, beloved wife of Harry McKenna, passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, October 6, 2017. Born on December 14, 1925 in Valley Falls, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of Bernard and Violet MacManus. She leaves behind her daughter, Deb McKenna, son-in-law, Robert Hansen and grandchildren, Tyler, Nolan and Addison McKenna-Hansen of Milford, as well as her nephews, Stephen and Donald McKenna of Florida, her niece Diana and many other beloved family and friends.

Louise and Harry were married for 69 years, until his passing in August of 2016. Theirs was a life of laughter and love. They spent most of their lives in Rhode Island, moving to Milford in 2009 to be closer to their beloved grandchildren. Louise enjoyed her many summers on the beaches of Cape Cod, with Harry and their daughter, Deb. Louise and Harry loved to travel and were often driving about the country visiting friends or family. Often, they hit the road with their faithful travel companions and best friends – Jack and Gloria, Sandy and Walt and Violet and Bill. Deb and Harry were the focal points for most of her life, and she doted on them endlessly, but this was just the opening act.

Louise found her true calling when she became a grandmother. Tyler, Nolan and Addison were the lights of her life. Always a good sport, you would be hard pressed to find Louise not covered in the remnants of some arts and crafts project – be it feathers, stickers, paint or play doh. Once playtime was over, it usually ended with the baking of some cookies. Regardless, she loved every minute of it! She was a fixture at baseball games, basketball games, track meets and dance recitals. Win or lose, good game or bad, she was ever encouraging and wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford, CT. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT.
