Marie Librandi

            Marie Librandi passed away peacefully just one month shy of her 101st birthday. She was truly a force of nature whom we dubbed “the Energizer Bunny”. Family meant everything to her…she was a much-loved wife, mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, daughter, grand-daughter, great-grand-daughter.

            Marie enjoyed so much in life and enthusiastically celebrated the accomplishments of her family — births, birthdays, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, awards, new homes and numerous adventures. She was our cheerleader!

            She loved so many things and loved sharing them with friends and family: swimming, dancing, bowling, traveling, reading, college study, theatergoing, raising flowers, rooting for the Yankees and the Knicks, knitting, needlework, tailoring, cooking, partying… and, notably, political organizing. In her role as an active member and leader in the League of Women Voters and AARP, she advocated relentlessly for her strong political beliefs in Florida, Hartford and Washington D.C. with luminaries such as U.S. Representative Rosa De Lauro and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal.

            Towards the end of her long and eventful life, she loved being with family, lit up when seeing Gizmo, her long-lived canine pal—and most especially—her great-grandson, Frank — whom she called the bayyy-beee!!!

            We will always miss and love Marie.

            Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. Those who wish to honor Marie — here we quote her own words: “When I was growing up, I followed my father’s passion for reading”— are invited to donate in her name to the Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Avenue, Milford, CT 06460.
