Mary F. Nelson

Mary Finn Nelson, West Haven, beloved wife of the late John T. Nelson Jr. passed away November 15, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. Formerly of Milford, Mary was born in Boston, MA on April 11, 1925 to the late Chester and Florence Finn. She was educated at St. Thomas School and the Hickox School in Boston. Mary is survived by her son Richard Nelson and his wife Jennifer of Orange and their children Coleman, Jacqueline and Audrey; daughter Nancie Brunt and husband Edmond of Madison and their children Daniel (Dana) Mairin (Braden) Chagnon and Lauren; Daughter Sally Nelson of West Haven and son Tommy with whom she lived. Mary retired from the Board of Education in Milford and worked for many years as a secretary at Jonathan Law High School. She was twice past president of St. Mary’s Guild and a member of Milford Council of Catholic Women. She was a member of the Milford Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered for over 40 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and golf, traveling, reading and enjoying the beautiful beaches of Milford and West Haven. Mary loved beautiful cars, especially her last car, a white convertible! But most of all, she loved her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren, enjoying holidays and laughter, seeing them grow and making her immensely proud of who they each have become. She was delighted to meet her great-granddaughter Linden Mary. Mary is also survived by her brother Michael Finn of Boston, four nephews and one niece. She is pre-deceased by a son, J. Thomas Nelson III, her sister, Isabella Horan and sister-in-law Margaret Hewitt. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Connecticut Hospice.

Friends and family may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Saint Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish), 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Interment will take place at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Ave., Milford, CT.
