Mary F. Paulovich Zavalko

Mary F. Paulovich Zavalko, 84, of Milford, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2018. Born on December 20, 1933 in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Estelle Flanagan.   

Mary graduated from Catholic Central High School in Troy, NY in 1952. The following year she married her late husband, Richard Paulovich and shared a long and loving marriage of 40 years, ending with his passing in 1993. Mary later met and married the late Lucian Zavalko. Sadly, Lucian passed in 2001. She retired from Jelliff Corp., Southport, after thirteen years of service. She was a volunteer for Milford Hospital as well as the Penny Pinchers Thrift Shop. Mary also worked part time for Capricorn Uniform for eleven years. Mary was a regular communicant at Christ the Redeemer Church in Milford, and also a member of the Lady’s Guild at the church.

Mary is survived by her treasured daughters, Ellen (James) Patterson, Joyce (Ernest) Goss, and Diane (Stephen) Jones; grandchildren, Matthew and Zachary Patterson, Dean and Kendall Goss, Lindsay Burmeister, and Ryan and Connor Jones; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Benjamin, and Madeline; step-children, Susan Carlson, Sally (Joseph) DeAngelo, Janet (Joseph) Casey, Glen (Susan) Zavalko, Michael Zavalko, and Ann Riordan; step grandchildren, Beth (Wayne Bean) Carlson, Ian (Teal) Carlson, Logan (Chelsea), Cailen, and Dylan Casey, and Jessica and Nicholas Bradbury; three step great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and special friends. Mary was predeceased by her grandson, Andrew J. Patterson; her first and second husbands; brothers, Robert and Charles Flanagan; and beloved sister, Ruth Shruan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Church, 325 Oronoque Rd, Milford, CT 06461 (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford. Friends and family may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460.
